About Kazzaz Smoke
Kazzaz Smoke is an independent journal covering the materials, construction and upkeep of smoking accessories. It is written and maintained by Dana Whitlock, and it exists because the information in this area is unusually scattered — split between manufacturer marketing, forum folklore, and the occasional accurate answer buried in a long thread.
The aim here is narrow: explain how things actually work, test the claims that can be tested, and say plainly when something is a matter of preference rather than fact.
What we cover
Our writing falls into a few consistent areas: what accessory materials actually are and how they age, which manufacturer claims carry meaning, cleaning methods that do not destroy finishes, and storage and humidity control. We publish when there is something worth saying rather than to a quota, which means the archive grows steadily rather than quickly.
How this site is funded
We sell nothing and we hold no commercial relationships with manufacturers, distributors or retailers. Nothing on this site is sponsored, and no company has been given review approval or advance sight of anything published here. Running costs are covered by the site's owner. Should this ever change — for instance if we introduce advertising — it will be disclosed prominently on our advertising disclosure page before any such content appears.
Corrections
We get things wrong from time to time. When we do, we correct the article and note what changed rather than editing quietly. If you spot an error, tell us — corrections from readers are the fastest way this site improves.
